Jawahiri: Sanaja Sha'ar al Arabi الجواهري صناجة الشعر العربي
Language: Arabic Hardcover 35.00
Commentary of al-Jawahiri's poetry and philosophy, considered widely as one the greatest poets of 20th century. Often referred to as 'Sha'ir al Arabiyyah al Kabir'- 'the great poet of the Arabic Language', Al Jawahiri (Iraq, 1899-1997) was the last Arab poetry who belonged to what became known as the Neoclassical school of Arabic poetry, a revivalist trend which flourished at the turn of the century at the hands of such poets as al Barudi & Shawqi but which has now largely been supplanted by new trends of verse, especially the so-called ' Free verse'. In his poetry, which he often declaimed to large and enthusiastic audiences, he lashed out at colonialism, political oppression, and social inequality. This collection by Dr. Zuhdi contains a summary of his life and private photo collection of the author and the Jawahiri.
